Jakarta, Triknews.co-Even though Covid-19 pandemic brought uncertainty to almost every aspect, The Covid-19 pandemic has also become a new starting point for civilization.
This was conveyed by the Minister of National Development Planning, Suharso Monoarfa, at the 6th International Conference on Management in Emerging Markets, which carried the theme Nurturing New Business Landscapes To Embrace The Next Normal, Friday (13/08/2021).
In his presentation, the Minister discussed the future prospects of changing the business landscape and sustainable business.
“It drives our concern to improve the health system, to accelerate our acceptance toward digitalization and automation, to improve our Global Value Chain, to adapt with the telework trend, and lastly to raise our concern to green recovery issues,” Minister said.
Covid-19 pandemic brings businesses to expand internationally. As the pandemic spreads globally to the whole globe, a number of limitations and restrictions are coming to our daily life.
According to the Minister, it leads to a lot of adjustments and improvisation on how the businesses operate, such as expanding their business to international level enabled by the spread of digitalization in business.
“Indonesia, supported by a large population and abundant natural resources, will be a potential market for multinational firms to expand their business,” Minister said.
Other things the Minister conveyed was the automation. The automation has become a trend on global business. During Covid-19, as human mobilization is restricted, labor costs become higher than capital. Thus, many companies have started to accelerate automation.
Furthermore, The Minister explained that environmentally friendly sustainable business practices have become a new trend in global enterprises.
It is know, 40 percent of the world’s 250 largest companies currently discussing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their corporate reporting. Mostly, large companies have started to analyze the links between SDGs and existing strategy; and integrate SDGs into strategic thinking.
Lastly, the Minister said one of the efforts to innovate during the pandemic is through digitalization. More than 40% of manufacturing and services enterprises sold products through digital channels. Businesses that used digital platforms are known to reap higher revenue up to 8 percent higher than those that did not.
